Project 1 (Urban Legend - Decisive Moment)
14/5/2018 (Week 8)
This week, Mr Hafiz introduced our first project for this module. For this assignment, we had to choose an urban legend of our choice and illustrate a particular turning point of the urban legend story that we chose.
For my urban legend myth, the story I chose is a Japanese urban legend myth called the Inokashira Park Curse. Before I illustrate my urban legend story, I did some research about it and also brainstormed the important elements that should be included in my short illustrated gif. I also made a moodboard for this assignment.
It brings you back as long as a hundred years ago. In Inokashira Park, Tokyo, there is a lake where visitors can rent boats. It is believed that if a couple rides on a boat together, their relationship will end. It's connected to a local shrine dedicated to Benzaiten. Benzaiten is believed to be very jealous and causes the break-ups of those who ride on the boats.

Before we start illustration our urban legend. Our lecturer, Mr Hafiz gave us an exercise about transition so that we can better understand the transition in our urban legend illustrated gif.

After finishing the transition, we are required to do some sketches of the rough idea about which scene from our chose urban legend story. I was playing with more 3D composition but after getting some opinions and feedbacks from my lecturers, I decided go with a flat composition one because it fits the art deco style better.

28/5/2018 (Week 10)
After finishing up our sketches and getting some feedbacks from my lecturers, we need to start to illustrate our sketches and animate it with Adobe Illustrator. For the final animated gif, because we're limited to an maximum of 5 frames while animating it, I decided to go for a simple style so that people will understand what is the overall gif about.
