Project Kart
Instructions
Tasks
Since Covid-19 has basically been the talk of the town since the start of 2020, our design exploration assignment will be surrounding the topic of Covid-19. For the assignment, we have to choose one of the Covid-19's key messages to deliver based on the PDF (below) sent by our lecturer, Ms Anis.
The key messages are:
1. Personal Hygiene
2. Physical Distancing
3. Know The Symptoms
4. Kindness Contagion
5. Myth Busting
6. Do More, Donate
Project KART
As a group of 3 including me and 2 other of my classmates, we chose to deliver one of the Covid-19 messages which is Do More, Donate because no matter how small an action is, by adding up, it will turn into a big impact to the society.
So, what is KART?
KART is basically an e-commerce website that puts all the food and grocery delivery services into one website so that everyone can browse through varieties of foods and groceries at their convenience. Besides that, the website will also include a page where it's focused on Malaysia's Covid-19 infected zones and also the numbers of cases in Malaysia.
The main objective of the website is to help out the SMEs in the food industry as they need as much support as they can during the pandemic. It's also to make online food and grocery delivery services easier so that everything is located on one platform only.
Why Did We Decide To Create An E-Commerce Platform?
As Conid-19 cases increase in Malaysia, the government is forced to put the nation in total lockdown. By that, online grocery and food delivery are increasing rapidly since everyone is starting to adapt to the "new normal". But, there is one problem, there are just simply too many food and grocery deliveries out there. 3 different grocery outlets lead to 3 different websites and it's a waste of time needing to browse through every single website. Besides that, the local food and grocery SMEs are in need of help as well as many of them don't provide delivery service. So, to solve the problems, we decided to create an e-commerce website that combines everything into 1 platform only. Whatever you like, "just put it in the Kart!"
Proposal
Before we start to execute the design of the website and also the contents, we need to create a proposal for the project. The proposal consists of the moodboard, the website's color palettes, website's wireframe and more.
Here is our proposal slide deck:

Final Presentation
After weeks of coding and also design, we're finally done with the website and also the social media posts of KART. It was quite a journey but I'm glad that we are able to pull that off before the deadline.

Personal Reflection
Personally, although there are ups and downs throughout the execution phases of the assignment, I think I've learned a lot from it. Especially when the whole semester has to be made online due to the ongoing pandemic, I think my team has done quite a job. From coding the website from scratch, to the research that I have to do to determine which content needs to be included in the website, it was a rewarding one. The end results are not what I expect it to be as I think there are a lot of space for improvement, but considering the knowledge that we have learned, I think it's a success for me.
Besides that, I have to thank Ms Anis as well, for guiding us throughout the semester and also always encouraging us for whatever we're doing. She gave us a lot of useful input and also suggestions on what to improve overall and that has helped us a lot.
Since the pandemic is still ongoing, let's all do our part to keep ourselves safe from it. Stay safe everyone!
